Presenter Highlights for 31st International Shamanism Conference

Title: “Wisdom of the Shuar Uwishin from the Ecuadorian Rain Forest” 
Natem Anank was raised deep in the Ecuadorian Amazon in the traditional “Shuar of the SacredWaterfall” way. He is a Shuar Uwishin (traditional healer) guided by the Great Spirit Arutam and thewisdom of his ancestors. He will share with us his wisdom of what is most important at this time onEarth. Natem will also conduct a medicine ceremony on the weekend following the conference.

Title: “Qigong – An Advanced Life Science”
Jianshe Liu is from Wenchang City, Hainam Province, in China. He has worked as a healer at the Medicineless Hospital in China for 10 years. He now has a Qigong Center on Hainan Island. He is a master of Zhineng Qigong who will share how Qigong gave him a new his life, and how it can help people to heal and experience inner happiness. He will speak on Qigong Healing and address these questions: What is chi? How does chi healing work? Does it work for everyone? How can someone prepare themselves to receive the maximum possible healing? At the end of his presentation he will give a group healing to demonstrate the heart of healing energy.

Stanley Krippner, Ph.D., is Professor of Psychology at Saybrook University in San Francisco. He is a pioneer in the study of consciousness, having conducted research in the areas of dreams,
hypnosis, shamanism, and dissociation, often from a cross-cultural perspective, and with an emphasis on anomalous phenomena, Formerly, he was director of the Kent State University Child Study Center, Kent OH, and the Maimonides Medical Center Dream Research Laboratory, Brooklyn NY.

Lewis Mehl-Madrona, MD, PhD has been studying the conventional world of mental health and the world revealed through indigenous elders and the wisdom of people diagnosed with psychoses. He is currently the Executive Director of the Coyote Institute for Studies of Change and Transformation,whose mission is to bring indigenous wisdom into the contemporary practice of medicine and psychology.
Barbara Mainguy works alongside Dr. Lewis Mehl-Madrona as a creative arts psychotherapist atOtter Creek Associates, a mental health practice in Vermont. She believes in the importance of energy,the power of animals, and the interconnected quantum multi-verse, though she still can’t understand the math.

Gail Hayssen has been a subject, participant, or co-author in numerous experiments and publications. Dr. Dean Radin said this about her work at the Institute of Noetic Sciences: “In another time and place, she would undoubtedly be a shaman or medicine woman. Her life has been saturated with spontaneous psychic experiences, which she has also demonstrated in the laboratory.” The Ganzfield experiment she participated in is published in Dean Radin’s 2013 book, Supernormal: Science, Yoga, and the Evidence for Extraordinary Psychic Abilities..

Sengee Lkhagvajav is a male shaman (khalkh zairan) and shamanist. He is head of All Mongolians’“Nomt Tsagaan Tenger” Shamanist Center. He wrote 2 volumes of books called “Shamanic Science of Mongolians,” based on his knowledge of traditional shamanism.

Title: “Energy Transmission and Secret Tantra”
Nandintsetseg Khurekhuyag is a female shamanist, journalist and researcher from the Mongolian Shamanist Institute. She has written and published 30 research works about shamanism.

Title: “Mongolian Shamanic Healing Method”
Amgalannyam Lkhaasuren is a female Mongolian shaman who has played an important role in developing ritual and ceremony of offering, in accordance with traditional Mongolian customs and ethical behavior. For 20 years, she has extensive experience connecting with spirits and highest worship of Mongolia.

Stephanie Taylor, MD, PhD.

Title: “The Shamanic Applications of Healing Tai Chi Chuan”

Stephanie Taylor, MD, PhD. is an emeritus Master Trainer in Tai Chi for Health. She has collaborated with Dr. Paul Lam, the creator of the short form Sun Style, since 1995. Dr. Taylor is a medical doctor and maintains a private medical practice in Carmel, California. She is additionally certified in Medical Qi Gong, Traditional Chinese Medicine (human), and acupressure (equine).

Maria Owl Gutierrez has been a healer and teacher of earth-based and spiritual medicine since 1997.She is currently the Dean of Students and a Professor at Energy Medicine University in Sausalito.

After serving in the Israel Defense Force for one year, he came to America and discovered the native flute and the Australian didgeridoo. Jan Ögren is a storyteller, international author and licensed psychotherapist. She has apprenticed with Native American Medicine teachers since 1981. For over 30 years, she has worked in thepsychotherapy field helping people change their neurological programming and recover from trauma.She is a subject matter expert for the BBS: Board of Behavioral Science Examiners, and chaired theethics committee for her local Marriage, Family Therapist for more than ten years.

Chris Schnabel, M.A.: My love of storytelling first led me to earn my undergraduate degree in English with a concentration in Fiction Writing at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. Through a psychological exploration of the mythologigical motif of the Nekyia, I earned a Master’s Degree in Depth Psychology from Sonoma State University. While enrolled I created and taught the class Myth, Archetype, and Narrative as a Student Teacher. As a Teaching Assistant I have led small discussion groups in a variety of psychology classes, as well as Projective Dream Work.

Sita creates a bridge between the chaos of modern life and the wisdom of indigenous spiritual practice. Her insight into what exists outside of consensus reality makes her teaching and leadership pertinent and valuable in a world emphasizing the material. Sita conducts healing journeys around the world, bridging the divide between western and indigenous teachings. Her commitment to deep ecology has birthed, “Fundo Sitaramaya,” -a preservation on Amazonian land that protects the rainforest flora and fauna.

DENITA BENYSHEK Denita Benyshek, PhD. MFA,
Title: “Transliminality in Shamans, Artists, and Audiences”
Denita Benyshek, PhD. MFA, is a multidisciplinary artist, a mental health counselor, and a cross-disciplinary scholar on contemporary artists as shamans. She earned her PhD and MA in psychology from Saybrook University and an MFA in painting from the University of Washington. Her artworkwas exhibited in over 60 national and international group exhibits, including Redefining Visionary Artin New York City. Her research will be published in the forthcoming edition of ReVision: A Journal of Consciousness and Transformation, a Polish/Hungarian anthology on shamanism and the arts, and the Chinese Encyclopedia of Shamanism.
